So it was another boring weekend and I came to know that the RipCurl surfing championship was happening at Bells Beach near Geelong. We decided to drive down at once and be a part of the brouhaha.Neither of us had ever been to one. Plus the extraordinary surfer dudes:D Well,it takes some time to figure out whats happening out there at sea. Nevertheless we were drawn into the pinnacles of excitement and adrenaline ,even by lounging a thousand miles away in the beige sands. It was a chilly day in April.Helping myself to some warm thick banana bread and mascarpone cheese,I took in the action as another awe-struck bystander.
Pschyed by the refreshing activity,we decided to put our plans of visiting Gold Coast,Sunshine coast and Brisbane into action.I could feel my mounting excitement as I saw the endless Pacific coastline from air.i would never forget my fist glimpse of the enormous skyscrapers of Surfer's,particularly the arrow-shaped Q1. Surfer's Paradise, capital of Gold Coast stands true to its name. The place scores for its sheer gorgeousness, life, spirit and activity. Its a popular spot for teenagers to unwind after schools in summer making it impossible to get reservations around that time of the year. The period is popularly referred to as Schoolies week!
My days were spent hiking in the Hinterland famous for its tropical forests and caves with waterfalls abuzz with fireflies at dusk! Gold Coast is also iconic for the sheer variety of amusement parks and each took up one day in my itinerary.DreamWorld, Seaworld,Movieworld and Wet n Wild pretty much caters to your every idea, whim and fancy about whatever you would expect from amusements parks .One can taker their pick from nerve-rattling rollercoasters, whale and dolphin shows, astounding waterslides apart from wild ,novelty rides which made me sick!
The evenings were our favourite part after the oh-so-tiring event packed days.Surfers Paradise literally comes to life as the sun sets.Roaring beach barbecues, musicians, fire eaters and a boisterous crowd ready to dance the night away at the infinite night-life hot-spots are all one can see! The mood is one of living life with arduous zeal ,while enjoying every second of it.Its a great feeling and sure catches on quick if I may add:)

I cannot but mention one venue of considerable innovation that we happened to visit.Minus Five is a frozen cavern with walls of ice,the furniture and floor is made of ice and so is the bar and the glasses which serve you drinks! The temperature is maintained at a constant -5 degree celcius as one enters bundled up in their cosy humongous jackets. The manager gave us gyan that the place only serves Russian Vodka as it happens to be the drink which does not freeze. It drinks well at those temperatures unlike beers which would spoil. The subtle lighting has a transforming effect on the magical icicle walls decorated with snowflakes and the like.Oh and great music.
I may not have mastered the art of surfing after several embarrassing plunges in the Pacific waves but no ones complaining..Its just a matter of practise.Victory shall be mine :)
